What should students expect?
Our host families are dedicated to ensuring students have an enjoyable and rich experience while visiting Santa Cruz. They understand the challenges (and rewards!) of being in a strange place far away from home. We expect only the highest of standards from our host homes and participants. Host families are carefully screened and we are continuously evaluating and inspecting homes to ensure that they meet these expectations for our visiting students. All hosts are located in safe areas close to public transportation. English is the primary language spoken in all homes. An occasional misunderstanding from language and culture is natural, but as our host families know and practice, smiles and good humor bridge all communication gaps!
Our application acts as an aid in placing students in a home that best meets their personal characteristics and fulfills any special requests.
